MACHU PICCHU

Nossa ideia era acordar cedo e entrar na cidade de Machu Picchu antes de todos mundo. Porém enquanto tomávamos café os ônibus de turismo já começavam a chegar, mas mesmo assim ainda estava vazio. como eu já estava familiarizada com o local, comecei a exploração no sentido contrário o que me permitiu ficar absolutamente sozinha nos locais que eu escolhi para curtir um pouco mais.
Também queria muito subir a montanha de Wayna Picchu - jovem montanha - que fica bem em frente a Machu Picchu, permite uma visualização maravilhosa do local e ainda é uma subidinha meia adrenalina devido as subidas íngremes e estreitas. Porém quando saí de São Paulo não sabia que precisa comprar outro ticket para entrar novamente em Machu Picchu e subir a montanha, quando descobri que seria necessário não haviam mais lugares disponíveis. Então o guia me sugeriu que subisse até o alto na própria montanha de Machu Picchu, porém ele também não sabia que precisava outro ticket especial para isso, conclusão também não consegui.
Acabei passeando por Machu Picchu mesmo, fui a ponte inca, novamente a porta do sol.

IMPORTANTÍSSIMO - TICKETS DE ACESSO
Como funciona: quem compra a trilha inca pode entrar e sair de Machu Picchu quantas vezes quiser no mesmo dia. Se quiser voltar lá em outro dia precisa outro ticket. Se quiser subir a montanha de Wayna Picchu ou a própria montanha de Machu Picchu precisa de um ticket especial para entrar em Machu Picchu e dar acesso a cada uma destas montanhas. Os tickets NÃO são vendidos em Machu Picchu só em Águas Calientes. Qualquer tipo de tickets deve ser  comprado com antecedência pois o número de visitantes é limitado.

Our plan was to get up early so we could reach the entrance to Machu Picchu before the other tourists. However, while we were still having breakfast, we saw tourist buses arriving. Since I already knew my way around, I was able to explore and enjoy the sites I wanted to by myself.

I also wanted to climb Wayna Picchu – or Young Mountain – which looms high in front of Machu Picchu, providing us with an amazing view. The climb is great for adrenalin junkies because of the steep and narrow trails. However, when I Ieft Sao Paulo, I didn’t know I’d need an extra ticket to enter Machu Picchu again and climb up Wayna Picchu. When I learned this, it was too late. There were no more tickets for sale.

The tour guide suggested I climb the highest point of Machu Picchu Mountain instead. However, he didn’t know that I would also need a special ticket for that.  To make a long story short, I didn’t make either climb and instead strolled around Machu Picchu and visited the Inca Bridge and the Sun Gate again.

HOT TIP:  ENTRANCE TICKETS TO MACHU PICCHU

How it works: Once you buy a ticket for the Inca Trail, you can walk in and out of Machu Picchu as many times as you wish on the day of your arrival. If you wish to visit Machu Picchu on any other day, you will have to buy a new entrance ticket. In order to climb the Wayna Picchu Mountain or even Machu Picchu’s highest spot, you will need a special ticket, which can only be purchased in Aguas Calientes. One more tip: buy the tickets in advance because the number of tourists allowed to visit the site is limited.

Acordamos ainda noite 3:30, mas sem problemas, felizes e animados para a chegada e com a oportunidade de ver o nascer do sol. O motivo de levantarmos a esta hora é que só há um trem para os carregadores e eles tem que pegar este tem as 5:00 da manhã. Eles acordam, servem o café da manhã e começam a desmontar tudo para chegar a tempo para pegar o trem. Nós temos que aguardar a abertura do ponto de controle de saída da trilha às 05:30. Meia hora antes vamos para a fila onde outros grupos estão também a espera da liberação. 

Este dia andamos pouco, uns 6 km por volta das 07:00 chegamos a Intipunku - Porta do Sol - a entrada da cidade Inca de Machu Picchu. É um momento de muita emoção, alegria, a realização do sonho, é lindo!

De lá ainda tem uma caminhada de 1 hora até Machu Picchu.

We got up at 3:30 AM. It was still dark outside, but we were incredibly excited at the prospect of arrival at Machu Picchu, where we could watch the sun rise. We had to get up that early because the porters had to hop on the only train available to them, which leave at 5:00 AM.

The porters got up, prepared our breakfast and got everything ready so they could make it to the train on time. We, on the other hand, had to wait until 5:30 AM for the gated control station to be opened. We arrived 30 minutes early and waited in line with other groups.

We didn’t do a lot of walking on this day – only 6 Km – and by 7:00 AM we had already arrived at Intipunki – The Sun Gate – the entrance to Machu Picchu, City of the Incas. It was a moment of pure bliss, joy, and happiness - a dream come true - simply gorgeous!

We had to walk for another hour to actually reach Machu Picchu.

When we were just about to arrive at the entrance to the city, we made a quick stop at a meditation site. Ruben taught us how the Quechuas used to express gratitude for auspicious times and to ask for prosperity. We all performed the same ritual with heartfelt gratitude 

Antes de começar o tour pela cidade Quechua nos reunimos e juntamos dinheiro para os guias e agradecer por toda sua, gentileza, cuidados empenho em nos ensinar tudo sobre esta cultura tão intrigante, eles sem dúvida foram os responsáveis por estes dias tão especiais.

É neste momento que eles nos entregam os tickets de trem para volta a Cusco e de ônibus para Águas Calientes.

Before we started our tour around the Quechuan city of Machu Picchu, our guides gave us our return train tickets to Cusco and return bus tickets to Aguas Calientes. The group got together and everyone chipped in to thank the guides and staff for their kindness, caring and willingness to teach us all they could about this intriguing culture. They made sure our trek up the Inca Trail was a delightful one.

Após conhecer Machu Picchu, a maioria pega o ônibus e vai para o hotel em Água Calientes, um povoado que fica a 20 minutos.

Nós optamos por nos hospedar no único hotel em Machu Picchu o Sanctuary Lodge, uma fortuna, mas achei que Machu Picchu merecia que eu ficasse por lá mais tempo. Depois do tour com os guias e o grupo, que acabou por volta das 13:00, pudemos ir para o hotel, tomar aquele banho tão esperado, comer e voltar para respirar Machu Picchu de novo. Acho que valeu a pena. Curtimos um fim de tarde inesquecível na cidade mágica, depois voltamos ao hotel e na medida que nos forças permitiram desfrutamos de um jantar maravilhoso. 

After visiting Machu Picchu, most of the tourists take a bus to the small village of Aguas Calientes and stay at a local hotel. We, however, decided to stay at the only hotel in Machu Picchu – the very pricy Sanctuary Lodge. I thought Machu Picchu deserved a longer stay. Our guide-led tour around the place finished at about 1:00 PM and then we headed to the hotel to enjoy a most welcome shower, have something to eat, and return to Machu Picchu. I think it was really worth it. We enjoyed an unforgettable sunset at this magical city and then returned to the hotel. Although exhausted, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner.

Here you can see all the busy cooks – the assistant chef preparing local savory pastries, the head chef preparing fried items and, in the background, a HUGE birthday cake for one of the group members. How they made it remains forever a mystery, but I can assure you that it was the best cake I’ve ever eaten.  It was even DECORATED!!!!
